Core Principle: Built for the Next Cup

Not a social check-in feed. Not a coffee encyclopedia. Clear, structured records that give every future adjustment clear evidence.

01Structured Data

Structured Parameter Capture

Bean origin, roast level, grind setting, ratio, temperature, pour stages, and time saved in one structured record.

02Experiment Tracking

Controlled Variable Tagging

Mark test variables and baselines (e.g. grind +2 clicks or temp -2°C) to isolate true cause and effect.

03Next Adjustment

Next Adjustment Memo

Note down what to change next while tasting. When brewing this bean again, the memo is pinned to the top.

04Diff Comparison

1-Tap Brew Again Diff

Carry previous parameters directly into a new brew session, automatically highlighting what changed this time.

Three Tabs, Three Distinct Jobs

Home for trends and today’s status, Brew for focused session timing, and Log for evidence and export. Settings stays politely tucked away.

Home01

Status, Trends & Insights

Weekly brew count, rating distributions, active experiment alerts, and bean freshness at a glance.

  • 7-day score distribution and average trend
  • Bean freshness and inventory decrement tracking
  • Active experiment variables and baseline reminders
  • Unobtrusive top-right settings and equipment profiles
Brew02

Single-Screen Focused Brewing

Timer, recipe stages, dynamic target recalculations, and key variables on one screen without page flips.

  • Guided templates for V60, Switch, AeroPress, and Espresso
  • Auto-recalculated stage targets based on dose and ratio
  • Haptic feedback transitions between pouring steps
  • Optional BLE scale connectivity for live weight & derived flow rate
Log03

Dense Log, Filtering & Export

High-density table, multi-parameter filters, Next Adjustment comparison, and multi-format data export.

  • Fast search & filter by bean, dripper, recipe, and score
  • Preserves TDS, extraction yield, flavor wheel, and sensory notes
  • Brew Again automatically compares and highlights parameter diffs
  • Export JSON / CSV / TXT; CSV is ready for Excel / Python analysis

Pure Hardware Integration, Strict Data Boundaries

No cloud authorization needed. Connects directly to standard BLE scales and thermometers with on-device calculation only.

Live BLE Scale Input

Compatible with standard BLE scales for real-time weight and timing. Manual entry is equally fast and polished.

Local Flow-Rate Derivation

Flow rates are computed locally from timestamped weight points, avoiding exaggerated sensor claims.

Bean & Gear Management

Track grinders, drippers, and roast batches with optional automatic bean inventory deduction on save.

Visual Recipe Cards

Render individual brew records into high-res shareable image cards. Exports are for data, cards are for humans.

Open Data for Deeper Analysis

One row per cup, one column per parameter. Exported CSV and JSON files integrate directly with Excel, Numbers, R, or Python.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the current release status of BrewTinker?

BrewTinker is currently preparing for its second App Store review submission and is not yet publicly live on the App Store. This site provides details on core workflows, data structures, and privacy. It will require iOS 17+ once released.

Why no cloud sync or user accounts?

Coffee brewing data is deeply personal. A local-first architecture delivers instant startup, absolute privacy, and zero risk of losing data due to server shutdowns or offline brewing.

What export and backup formats are supported?

You can export all records, current filtered results, or custom date ranges as CSV (for Excel/Python), JSON (for lossless backup/restore), or Plain Text. Note: PDF export has been deliberately removed to prevent formatting inconsistencies.

Which Bluetooth hardware devices are supported?

Compatible with standard BLE scales (for weight) and thermometers (for water temperature). Flow rate curves are computed locally on device. Bluetooth is completely optional—manual logging is fast and intuitive.

Where is the Settings menu?

To keep the brewing canvas uncluttered, Settings is located at the top-right corner of the Home screen, containing gear profiles, BLE pairing, Pro status, and legal disclosures.
