Overview
BrewTinker is a local-first coffee brewing record and analysis app. It helps you record brew parameters, compare outcomes, and export your data for review or external analysis.
BrewTinker has no accounts and no cloud sync. Everything you record stays on your device unless you export it yourself.
Information We Store
- Brew records: bean name, origin, recipe context, brew method, grind size, dose, water, temperature, time, rating, sensory scores, flavor tags, notes, and experiment fields.
- Bean, recipe, and equipment data: information you enter to support brewing and record context.
- App preferences: language, temperature unit, onboarding/privacy acknowledgement, notification preference, and other local settings.
- Photos you choose to add: bean images selected by you are stored in the app sandbox.
- Widget summary data: compact local summaries may be written to the App Group container so widgets can display brew counts or bean freshness.
- Purchase status: StoreKit entitlement state used to unlock BrewTinker Pro features. App Store payment details are handled by Apple, not BrewTinker.
What We Do Not Collect
BrewTinker contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, and no advertising or tracking framework. Specifically:
- Brew records are never uploaded to a server. They live in a local database on your device.
- No crash reports are collected or transmitted.
- No product analytics, usage telemetry, or device identifiers are collected.
- There are no remote push notifications. Reminders are scheduled locally by iOS.
- There is no account system, sign-in, or cloud sync.
Apple's StoreKit is the only third-party system involved, and only for purchases (see below).
If any of these change in a future version, this policy and the App Store privacy answers must be updated before that version is released.
How We Use Your Information
- To display, search, filter, and edit your brew records.
- To provide brew timers, dynamic target calculations, experiment labels, and sensory analysis views.
- To export your records as JSON, CSV, or plain text when you choose to export.
- To import compatible JSON or CSV backups when you choose to import.
- To schedule local daily brew reminders if you enable them.
- To power local widgets where supported by iOS.
- To unlock purchased Pro features such as widgets, shortcuts, and additional grinder or dripper profiles.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data for advertising.
Purchases, StoreKit, And External Links
BrewTinker Pro is handled through Apple's StoreKit and App Store purchase systems. BrewTinker reads verified entitlement status to unlock Pro features, but does not process payment card details.
Current Pro benefits are limited to:
- Home Screen widgets for brew stats and bean freshness.
- Shortcuts to start brewing or open Brew Log.
- Multiple grinder and dripper profiles.
Core brewing, records, experiments, recipe forks, and manual export remain available without Pro.
The Privacy Policy and Terms open inside the app; the full versions are also published on brewtinker.com, and opening one there uses your browser. StoreKit and browser interactions are governed by Apple's and the website/browser provider's applicable terms and privacy practices.
Bluetooth & Hardware Policy
- Current Release (v1.0.4): The current version contains no Bluetooth connection features and does not request or use iOS Bluetooth permissions.
- Future Updates Roadmap: If future releases introduce connectivity for compatible standard BLE scales or smart thermometers, they will strictly uphold our local-first privacy standard: all hardware readings will be computed locally in sandbox memory, and no telemetry will ever leave your device.
Notifications
Daily brew reminders use Apple's local notification system. No APNs token is uploaded to a server, and no reminder payload is sent to a backend.
Export And Portability
You can export brew records from Brew Log. Supported formats:
- JSON for full structured backup.
- CSV for spreadsheet and external regression analysis.
- Plain text (TXT) for simple sharing.
Exports are user-initiated files. You control where those files are saved or shared.
Data Retention And Deletion
Data is stored locally until you delete it, uninstall the app, or reset the local store.
There is no remote account to delete, because there is no account system. To remove your data, delete records and beans in the app, use Settings to reset the local database, or remove the app from the device. If a future version introduces an account, its deletion flow must be documented here before that version is released.
Your Rights
- Access: View your records in the app.
- Export: Export your records from Brew Log.
- Deletion: Delete local records and app data.
- Portability: Use exported JSON or CSV with other tools.

BrewTinker is localized in English, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and German.
